Beef Tallow - Grass Fed

Makes for rich cooking and baking, fantastic DIY skin care products — and its reusable with a high smoke point!

America was built on tallow, a staple fat of the frontier. As pioneers moved west, their cows moved with them, providing fresh milk, butter, beef and of course, tallow. Beef tallow remained a key dietary component here until it was ostracized the 1950s  and replaced with industrially grown and produced Crisco (cottonseed oil), margarine and vegetable oils.

Now beef tallow is making a comeback, as people become educated about the nourishing properties of truly "healthy fats."* We've partnered with Fatworks to bring you a premium Grass Fed Tallow.

Beef Tallow, organic rosemary.

Frequently asked questions

Tallow and lard are both rendered fat, but technically "tallow" is solid at room temperature. That's the reason you can make candles with tallow and not lard. Our beef tallow is crafted from 100% grass-fed, pasture raised cows, and is rich in CLA and deliciousness.

Pies, fries, eggs, chili, stews. It is great for baking, sauteeing or deep frying. Tallow is really as versatile as you make it. You can also make great lotions and soap with Tallow.

Tallow will last repeated frying without oxidizing, or going rancid, like vegetable oils.  Simply strain your tallow with a cheesecloth after each use.  Depending on how you use your tallow and what you fry it in, you can get many, many uses.
