We're continuing this ancient tradition by partnering with Walkabout Health Products to provide you with a premium, grass fed Emu Oil that can be taken as a supplement.
Emu Oil is rendered from the bird's life-sustaining fat. Our rendering method is via filtering in a gravity system, with nothing added or detracted from the oil. The genetics of the emu, the feed, husbandry and proprietary process separate our traditional Emu Oil from the commercially produced oils.
This is reflected in the high levels of natural vitamin K-2 (MK-4), as well as the conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), omega 3, 6 and 9 and vitamin E and that remain intact after processing.* Our Emu Oil also contains stable saturated fats and levels of vitamin E that protect the oil from oxidizing (rancidity).*
Contained in an amber glass jar, our Emu Oil is gentle on the tummy, with no burping or aftertaste. And it's registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in Australia.
You can also try our convenient Emu Oil Capsules.
Tested and true for vitamin K-2!
For those seeking therapeutic levels of vitamin K-2 to accompany the high levels of vitamin A and D-3 in Rosita EVCLO (Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil), there's no better choice than Walkabout Health's pure Australian Emu Oil.* Both oils have nothing added or taken away, the vitamins are in their natural food form just as nature intended.
Emu oil supports bone health and is said to be anti-inflammatory.*
And we've tested our Emu Oil for your peace of mind:
"Walk About Health Products authentic Emu Oil is one of nature's richest sources of vitamin K-2 in the preferred form of MK-4 (Menatetrenone). Liquid emu oil provides an easy way to customize your dosage and daily intake." - Vita K laboratory
In the past, we at Corganic have always recommended pairing EVCLO with extra virgin butter oil for the high levels of vitamin K-2.* But with no testing facilities that specialized in vitamin K-2, it was hard to ascertain the exact amounts of vitamin K-2 in various products. All of that changed when Vita K, based in the Netherlands, became the world premier lab for the testing of vitamin K levels in food.*
Corganic sent samples of extra virgin butter oil, ghee, Emu Oil and even Rosita EVCLO and Ratfish Liver Oil for testing to Vita K. The fish oils predictably had very little vitamin K-2. We were surprised that ghee and butter oil had similar levels (which were higher than most foods). What really shocked us was the fact that emu oil was head and shoulders higher in vitamin K-2 compared to any other food tested!
Here's what the independent tests revealed:
- Walkabout Health Emu Oil: 15 mcg/tsp of menaquinone-4 (vitamin K-2)*
- Extra virgin butter oil: 1.26 mcg/tsp of menaquinone-4 (vitamin K-2)*
Our purebred, grass fed emus
We'd also like to note that Walkabout Health only uses birds that are genetically pure and kept separated on the farms, where they thrive on large grassy pastures. All emus in the rest of the world come from inferior zoo stock. Australia banned exportation of Emus in the 1960s, and no one outside of Australia has access to these ancient genotypes.
While Walkabout Health was studying the emu and maintaining the purity of the breed, others were breeding for "big birds," trying to increase the amount of meat and oil per bird. What they produce is an inconsistent quality of oil. One of the problems is mixing genotypes of the birds, as many emu farmers are still unaware that there are different genotypes.
