Vitamin E and vitamin A (beta carotene) in Red Palm Oil
With its bright crimson color, red palm oil is the virgin, unrefined goodness that's extracted from the plum-sized fruit.
Raw, unprocessed palm oil contains about 50% medium chain fatty acids and phytonutrients, including carotenoids, the entire spectrum of vitamin E and water-soluble antioxidants, phenolic acids and flavonoids.*
In fact, red palm oil is one of only two food-based sources that contain the entire spectrum of natural vitamin E (the other is wheat germ). Specifically, red palm oil has all eight vitamin E isomers, as natural vitamin E is comprised of four tocopherol isomers and four tocotrienol isomers. This is special because many products that tout vitamin E only have some tocopherols or some tocotrienols. Red Palm Oil also stands out because it contains the richest natural source of tocotrienols.
The red color comes from the natural presence of beta carotene and lycopene, which gives carrots and tomatoes their distinctive red and orange colors.* Once digested, the body converts these nutrients to vitamin A.*
In fact, many are surprised to find the equivalent amount of organic red palm oil boasts more beta carotene than a carrot!*
